Seasons-VTM, Viral Transport Medium :

Seasons-VTM, Viral Transport Medium was developed by following WHO guidelines. It is a specially formulated medium for collection, transport and long term freeze storage of viruses. It is designed to maintain the optimum viability and virulence of the viral sample.

Seasons-VTM, Viral Transport Medium is of proprietary composition and contains protective protein antibiotics to control microbial contamination and buffers to control the pH. Phenol red is used as a pH indicator.

Seasons-VTM has been evaluated at Centre for Cellular & Molecular Biology (CCMB), Hyderabad, an ICMR approved centre for validation and also from Central Research Laboratory, Kempegowda Institute of Medical Sciences, Bangalore which is a NABL accredited laboratory. The said VTM is evaluated for its suitability for collection, transport, freeze storage and molecular testing of viruses and were tested on Human adenoviruses, Influenza A & B virus, H1N1, Human respiratory syncytial viruses and Enteroviruses. It was also compared with two other commercially available VTM.

Seasons-VTM was found suitable for collection, transport, freeze storage and molecular testing of RNA and DNA viruses.
